Interesting article about our young people. As a school we have noticed a 50% increase in students with these particular needs. Jonathan de Sausmarez, Executive Headteacher
ROSCA Lottery 2018 - The final lottery winner of the year was T.Burbidge, winning a Christmas bonus prize of £120! Congratulations!
ROSCA Lottery 2019 - Thank you to everyone who has subscribed to the lottery for 2019. Online subscription by Tucasi-Scopay will be closed on 31st January. After that date we will still accept subscriptions by cheque payable to ROSCA. We have received enough subscriptions already that the monthly prize fund will be at least £50, prizes to be finalised once the online subscription is closed. Remember half the money received in subscriptions is given out as prizes, and the other half goes into the RoScA funds. Funds raised are spent following bids from departments within the school. We will be reviewing the bids later in the year.
Christmas Carol Concert - As always it was a fantastic evening and RoScA was pleased to be a part of it. Thank you to all who visited our Christmas market style stall, we hope you enjoyed the mulled wine, hot chocolate, hot dogs and Christmas biscuits.
Refreshments at the Year 9 Parents Evening - We will be serving teas, coffees, soft drinks, cakes and biscuits at the Year 9 Parents Evening on 31st January. Come and visit us in the canteen!
The Real Game - Tuesday 29th January - Year 8 Parents (or any parents who would like to work with our pupils for the day?) On Tuesday 29th January we will be holding our annual event with Year 8 entitled "The Real Game" which is a popular off-timetable day with pupils and has been run successfully for over 10 years! For the uninitiated it is a day when Year 8 spend the morning working together in their tutor groups to complete various work and finance related tasks. In the first of these tasks pupils are asked to make a "Dream Cloud" of priced objects that they would like to own in a future life. These items range from pets and computers to mansions and Ferrari's! The catch comes later when they are all allocated job descriptions complete with salaries and are then asked to budget accordingly....quite an eye opener for some!
We are always keen to recruit at least two additional helpers for each of the eight tutor groups, but no previous expertise is required. What we would like is that helpers taking part would be prepared to talk briefly about their career experiences to the group they are with and answer any questions but on a very informal basis during the morning. After lunch we will be with all pupils in the hall where they will have some short presentations on what happens after year 11, an explanation of what being at college is like, what we mean when talk about University and why people might want to train through an apprenticeship? So, If you would like to help us with this day we would love some extra pairs of hands! We are happy if you want to stay all day in which case a free school lunch is on offer (!), but equally happy if you prefer to join us at 8.30am until 1.20pm rather than until 3.00pm. Please get in touch with Miss Jane Phillipps (01794) 527049 or email@example.com if you can help!
For Year 10 and Year 11 Pupils and Parents in the Salisbury Area - Bishop Wordsworth's School has asked us to pass on their application deadline for their 6th form for any boys wishing to study A-level with them next year - the deadline is Friday 1st February. I have a number of prospectuses if anyone would like one.
